Coming back in from Canada we stopped off at Port Huron for the night. As we were exploring the area in our RV we found the Thomas Edison Inn right next to the river between Lake Huron and Lake Erie.
Small fishing boats were playing chicken with the lake and sea going freighters coming off Huron. It was interesting watching all the little fishing boats in the shipping channel of the river catching fish up till a freighters would blow its horn. Once the horn sounded the little boats would zip out of the freighters way, wait for it to pass and then zoom right back out to the channel and start fishing again.
We decided to stay at the Inn this night so we could keep watching this event as it keep replaying every hour or so. The Inn was great as well. On this road trip we spent most nights in campgrounds but on occasion we would stay at a unique Inn or Hotel. We found that we had to always check to ensure they had parking for our RV many did not.
As for customs the only rude officer we ever ran into after several crossings was one U.S. Customs Supervisor, everyone else was great and professional. Driving in Canada was no different then here in the states signage was a little different at times but easy to understand in those few cases. Do not be afraid to visit Canada!
