Added GMRS mobile

Bought a Anytone 779 GMRS 20 watts but really is only 15/13.5 watts depending the YouTube you watch. However in the paperwork it does say the US version is 18 watts so I am OK with that.

I did a quick field test from my V 1 HT to the mobile just to see if I can reach the local hospital just over four miles away.  I did so I am happy with the radio.  I need a newer computer to update the radio so I can change menu items 1-16, but it is usable now🤓

Power

Above you see a Orange flashlight opened showing four aaa batteries in a sleeve so they will work in a light that calls for a C cell battery.  You also see red aaa sleeve’s for C batteries and white sleeve’s for a D battery replacement.

Below I have a 14 watt solar charging a 4 aa/aaa charger to charge my ht radio battery and for batteries to make more sleeve’s.

Devels Tower

Devels Tower at the end of June 21.  Traffic was backed up to the highway so we skipped it on this afternoon drive.  We have visited it several times over the years.

Still a wonderful place to visit “off season “ when there is no huge crowds.

Power Outage Updated

Had a five hour power outage and got by with switching to generator.  Also tried a battery fan and 32 qt freezer on 12 volt battery.  Up date had it on a 24 amp hr battery need 100 amp lead acid 50 usable amps to be able to run fo a day off shore/gen power.

Reminds me I only carry 30 hours of generator fuel, 12 hours portable battery power.  My onboard propane 100 lbs should last 2 months or more in the summer and a few weeks in the winter when temp below 32 degrees.

I used my 25 foot 30amp cord from generator to RV.  Next time I will add the 30 to my 50 amp when using the generator.  This will allow me to keel the generator further away from the RV for noise and CO2 risk reduction.

10 meter contact search

Searching for my first contact on 10 & 12 meters.  So far no luck.  Please note I am not working hard at it, too many other bands to use.

This is my first ham radio with an inverted V ran off a small auto jumper battery.
