GMRS

Above GMRS and below FRS (no license for FRS needed).

Picked up some GMRS HT’s so I can keep in touch in areas I do not want to take a cell phone.  Kathy and the kids do not want HAM license so I also picked up a GMRS license which allows them to talk on my GMRS.  They can’t use the HAM radios without out me next to them but they can with the GMRS and the little FRS (bubble pack) radios.

Did a quick 1/10 of a mile test all went well between the GMRS and the FRS radio.  In a few days I will program the other G MRS and test some more radio to radio at more distance.  Figure GMRS to GMRS should get several miles at least. Then I will try using repeaters.

Updated for the FRS range (bubble pack) 1/2 mile.  From campground through some trees out to highway on flat ground.  Used a BTech V1 HT as base with recorder.  Will do V1 to V1 in a week or two.
