The Western Desert part 1

Every time I walk in this unique place I continue to be amazed at its beauty.  No matter the time of year it is always a great view.

I do not like the shifting sands that make up a big part of the red desert I prefer some vegetation and rocks.  When the winds kick-up the red sand gets into everything and we take it home with us.
Wind and rain have eroded a large part of this sandstone rock and others in the area.  As the stone breaks down more sand is created.
Some more shots with unique shrubs, stones and landscape.  Every year we come back to the area it changes because of the wind and rain.
I am always amazed how trees can live and have any green out here.

Oh For Summer

Almost ran over this turtle on a dirt road in Nebraska a few summers back.  If you look closely you can see her covering her eggs.  Her shell was over a foot long to give you her general size.

Buffalo are becoming more common again out here in the west.

Wild Horse Corals

Stopped by the BLM Wild Horse Corals in Rock Springs Wyoming the other day.
As you pull off the road into a nice sand and gravel parking area which is rarely occupied you have a nice view of the red desert.
In  the viewing area you have some self directed signs like this one to answer many of your questions.
From the viewing area you can have a seat and watch all the animal's than go back and have dinner in your RV in the parking lot.
I see how it can take a whole season or two just to see one state how long to see the whole country?
