Jackery update 2

 Charging one of my tool batteries with no problem.  Remember this 290 only has a 200 watt pure sine inverter, so charging batteries for higher wattage items is the way to go for me. Photo also shows the chiller I covered in an earlier post.

Solar connected to RV battery bank

 Now have 400 watts of solar connected to our 3 house lead acid batteries for 160 usable amp hours.  Still need to run a wire from the batteries to inverter to the bedroom so I can plug-in my O2 equipment and CPAP. I also my run a 12 volt DC plug to the kitchen.

Jackery update July

 Using my Jackery with my HAM Radio I draw 8 watts listening and 21 watts talking.  If I ever talked at a fifty percent rate I would have a 19 hour operations time.

If I only talk twenty percent I would have over 28 hours not bad for a 290 watt Jackery.

The two photos above show a small makeup chiller that keeps items 20 degrees below outside temp.    My little Jackery should run it for 5-6 hours possibly 24/7 if hooked up to a 50/60 watt solar panel and clear sky’s during the days.

Here is my little Jackery 290.  I ran my 32 qt freezer with it, after 5 hours I had only used 30% of my Jackery power. This tells me I could run it for over 12 hours if needed.  Temperature stayed within 2 degrees of zero the whole time.
 

Parks on the air

 Parks on the air (POTA) my first attempt on amateur radio.  I am 40 miles south of Gillette Wyoming and S/W of Devil’s Tower National Monument.  In just under an hour I had over 15 contacts from Calf, TX to Ga to name a few states.  I used a 20 watt HF radio on 20 meters and a Hamstick attached to my pickup bed.

Back in Wyoming

We brought the rain back to Wyoming.  We will be visiting our kids an getting our annual Dentals an Medical check ups.  We did our eye doctor while along the gulf coast.

Below we had a power outage for a few hours so our RV frig switched automatically to propane and lights to 12 volt. However our 35 qt chest freezer doesn’t switch automatically so I had to switch to a 12 volt plug and battery during the outage.  With one of my portable solar panels to recharge the battery we can run this freezer indefinitely.  We also have a generator for a day or two without sunshine. Stove is also propane.

Below is our newest rig we bought in 2020 it is working out well for us.

For fresh water we can remain on fresh water with our tank for several days.  Five to seven days on our black and gray water tanks.
With four 100 watts solar and three 12 volt batteries we have nearly unlimited use of our 12 volt lights and fans.

Propane will last several weeks with our extra tanks.
